It appears to be heating up in the Chelsea camp in terms of transfer activity. As Antonio Conte assess the chances of youth and fringe players to be part of the squad for next season, it is clear to see that there could well be a few big names leaving the Club.
Midfielder Oscar is apparently close to the exit door as reports state long term admirers Inter Milan are about to make a £30 million offer for the Brazilian. Never really lighting it up at Chelsea, Conte seems willing to let the player go as the likes of N’golo Kante coming in and Nathaniel Chalobah staking a real claim for a spot.
Meanwhile, Baba Rahman has left the club to join Schalke on a season long loan deal, which could evidently see faith being shown in youngster Ola Aina, who looks set to be given a role in the first team this season as he too along with Chalobah has been impressive this pre-season.
The striker saga continues as Chelsea look set to up their offer to Everton for former marksman Romelu Lukaku, who wants to return to the Club. Chelsea have had an offer rejected already but it is thought that they will accept the proposed £68 million that Chelsea are expected to come back in with.
The eagerness to sign a striker clearly shows that Diego Costa is serious about wanting to leave the Club, with a return to Spain looking likely. Costa has never really settled in England and has reportedly become home sick. Chelsea will only allow him to leave however, should they land one of their main striking targets. Certainly need to watch this space here as Conte confirmed that he ‘wasn’t sure where Costa’s future stands’.
The great thing about the latest reports is that it appears Conte is happy to give chances to the youth players and fringe players, rather than over pay for potential new signings. Lukaku is obviously going to be an expensive buy and whether you love rate him or not, he scores goals, and if Costa goes, we’ll need this type of big presence striker.
Chalobah, Loftus-Cheek and Aina I feel will come into the setup predominantly this season and deservedly so. We could well see more names leaving as Mikel and Remy are both looking surplus to requirements and are considering their futures as well as others.
