Welcome to Wednesday’s transfer news update from CFCnet, ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer at Stamford Bridge with many rumoured comings and goings.
Wednesday brings reports that The Blues are expected to be making somewhat of a squad overhaul this summer with players expected to be making the exit, with arrivals and transfer targets already in place to replace them.
ESPN have claimed that Chelsea are looking to sign five new players this summer, despite Manager Jose Mourinho recently stating that he is happy with the current squad.
I feel that I partially agree with the report here, I feel that we will be seeing at least three new arrivals this summer. Mourinho has always refused to confirm rumours, stated we won’t be signing anyone and then the opposite happens. Although he does have a huge say in transfer policy at Chelsea, if the owners feel there are players needed then it will happen. I believe that the recent performances from Chelsea have less than convinced Roman Abramovich and his advisors, therefore we may well see the five players arrive as stated on this report.
There are a number of players who’s future are uncertain including Filipe Luis, Oscar, Petre Cech, Loic Remy and Didier Drogba just to name a few. There will certainly be a number of slots to fill in the squad.
Chelsea’s priorities remain with strikers, a centre back, full back, goalkeeper and another central midfielder in order for the areas to be covered strongly.
There has been a number of high profile names mentioned and The Blues are certainly keeping tabs on some top priorities including Jorge Koke, Raphael Varane, Paul Pogba amongst others.
Pogab’s agent has confirmed that he has recieved over 2,000 calls in regards to his client and you can bet that at least one of those calls came from the blue side of London! Mourinho is a huge fan of the France International and he is certainly a high priority this summer.
