Welcome to Thursday’s edition of CFCnet’s transfer news update, where we collate, research and give our own take on the latest transfer rumours surrounding the Stamford Bridge club in what looks to be a very busy summer for Manager Jose Mourinho with many expected outgoings and in comings.
To start it off, a fairly new name is being mentioned in the shape of midfielder Andre Gomes. Reputable sources in Portugal are stating that Chelsea have offered up a fee of around £25 million for the Valencia star.
The former Benfica man has been a regular in the Portuguese youth International setup and has recently made a few appearances for the senior national side, sparking somewhat of a revival for Portuguese football. The 21-year-old man mountain is of a number of fresh young players coming through the ranks for their country in what looks like it could be developing in to a strong nation once again.
Meanwhile there are updates on the Gareth Bale situation as sources close to the player state what we all expected and that the player will not be looking at a move away from Real Madrid this summer and is set to stay and prove his worth. Naturally, this would be the right move for Bale who would certainly be seen as giving up in the Serie A.
It also appears that Juventus are pretty much reserved to accepting the fact that Paul Pogba will be leaving this summer confirming that the midfielder “has his future in his own destiny”. Chelsea are still front runners for the France International and he is expected to be the first arrival and main priority this summer along with another striker.
There is nothing new on the Mauro Icardi situation but he is certainly one of the main targets for the striker role at Chelsea this summer. The 22-year-old Inter star is touted as one of the best young forwards around and is being monitored by a number of clubs.
Meanwhile, as predicted by us on Wednesday, Jose Mourinho will not be allowing Petr Cech to join another Premier League side and has quashed any interest coming from London rivals Arsenal. The Blues will not let him go for any less than £10 million this summer.
