Chelsea visit the Madjeski stadium tonight off the back of a draw against League One Brentford at Griffin Park.

Fernando Torres’ late equaliser spared the blushes for Rafael Benitez, whom had named a strong team on Sunday.

John Terry came through 90 minutes for the first time since November, whilst David Luiz and Petr Cech remain doubtful. Eden Hazard remains suspended. Victor Moses scored twice for Nigeria last night alongside Jon Obi Mikel at the African Cup of Nations. Noel Hunt and Jason Roberts will miss out for the Royals.

Reading are in good form of late, winning their last four in all competitions as their fight for top flight survival gains pace.

The European Champions well-documented season full of stutters took another bump last week with Rafa Benitez insisting he would like the Chelsea job on a full time basis come next year. Jog on.

The match against Brentford proved many of the Blues’ are lacking energy and creativity. A real slump may be made not to look so bad if we can pick up a decent win in Berkshire tonight, with Manchester City dropping points to QPR last night and Tottenham going to East Anglia and Norwich.

It is important that we get players on the ball early on tonight, dominate possession and prove our credentials as a Champion’s league team. Many will feel a couple of players need to step up, for too long now Juan Mata has carried the mantel and we looked a brighter side when he came on at half-time against Brentford.

A win tonight could see us move 7 points ahead of Spurs if they come unstuck at Carrow Road, and just 4 points behind second place Man City. A crisis by no means, yet there is an unsavoury cloud hanging over the team at the moment that we all hope drifts away before Saturday’s trip to Newcastle.

Keep the Blue Flag flying high.
