Monday Night Football saw Chelsea fall to a ninth defeat this season, a 2-0 defeat sees the gap close to just one point with rival Tottenham hot on the heels of the Blues.
Manager Frank Lampard was in no mood to accept the 2-0 defeat to Manchester United as fair, instead condemning the officials usage of VAR on Monday.
Decisions went against Michy Batshuayi and Cesar Azpilicueta according to Lampard who was quoted via BBC Football, stating that that all these type of decisions are becoming “soul destroying” for the fans inside the stadium trying to work out what’s going on.
I’ve seen it again and VAR is there for that and they didn’t get it right. Harry Maguire should have been sent off, that’s clear, and that obviously changes the game.”
Azpilicueta gets a shove in the back – it’s not clear, it’s not obvious, Azpi has been pushed in the back.”
It’s a bit soul destroying [for the fans] but it’s the culmination of a few incidents. VAR is there for that and a toe offside is a toe offside, even if we don’t like it.”
Chelsea have just one Premier League win in 2020, having failed to record a victory in their last four fixtures. Next up is a crucial home game against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge – the winner will finish the day in fourth.
