Chelsea are once again hunting in Serie A for potential transfers in January and next summer, and the Guardian have written that Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne is the man at the top end of their striker wishlist.
Napoli’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has been quoted in Corriere dello Sport via Bleacher Report saying that an agreement of a verbal kind has been agreed with the club and the player’s super agent Mauro Raiola;
“He has a symbolic release clause. Raiola and I have decided that if we get a €200 million bid we’ll sell him. It’s not a written agreement, but a verbal one. €200 million, is that clear?”
The key to this agreement is that it’s a ‘verbal’ one and nothing has been put in writing, but Chelsea will be aware of Napoli’s stubbornness and business guile in them releasing Maurizio Sarri to become Blues boss – with the club having to pay up big to release the Italian from his contract.
While the 27-year old Lorenzo Insigne has been a consistent performer for Napoli, his goalscoring form isn’t quite that impressive considering the amount of appearances – last season he netted eight Serie A goals in 37 appearances, but did chip in with 11 assists.
If Chelsea are indeed intent on going in for Lorenzo Insigne they may face competition for his signature, with rivals Liverpool also interested according to the Guardian.
