Chelsea continue to be linked with a replacement for goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga as manager Frank Lampard looks to reshape the squad in his own image, having yet to really do any business of his own after two transfer windows.
Kepa Arrizabalaga found himself dropped for a chunk of games earlier in 2020, but made a return just before the postponement of football.
One of those goalkeepers being linked as a potential in during the next transfer window is Ajax’s Andre Onana, who shone during the Dutch club’s famous run to the Champions League semi-finals last year.
In quotes taken from Dutch source Algemeen Dagblad via the Metro, Ajax manager Erik ten Hag revealed that Onana is set to depart the Amsterdam giants once a bid at the right price is submitted;
‘Andre is very important to us and of course we don’t want to lose him.’
‘But it’s true that we have an agreement from last year about the development scenario and what steps we will take if the right club comes in at the right price.’
Chelsea, if interested in Onana, will surely be aware of the availability of the 24-year-old Cameroon stopper, but will likely have to find a buyer for Kepa if indeed they are searching for a new number one when the window does reopen.
