Antonio Conte has claimed that Chelsea “do not have a chance” in next week’s FA Cup final if they repeat the performance they put in against Newcastle United (via The Guardian).

Sunday’s match against Newcastle United was a disappointing way to end a disappointing Premier League season for Chelsea.

The 3-0 defeat ended the Blues’ outside chance of a top-four finish and concluded the league season on a sour note.

Two goals from Ayoze Perez and one from Dwight Gayle secured the points for Newcastle and Antonio Conte made his feelings clear after the match.

“We now have six days to change our desire, our will to fight because, if we play a game like this in the FA Cup final we do not have a chance,” Conte said after the match.

“There was big frustration for me because I wanted to finish the season in the best possible way.

“Newcastle showed great desire and fight and outplayed us but we didn’t play a good game.”

It was Chelsea’s fourth defeat in seven Premier League away matches in a season which has been disappointing to Blues fans.

The pressure has mounted on manager Antonio Conte who has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

“In this season for sure. I will see, I have a contract, and I am committed for this club,” Conte told Sky Sports after the match but he insisted that Chelsea’s season isn’t over.

“Now we have six days to prepare the last game of the season, the final of the FA Cup, and for sure we need to change. Our start today wasn’t good.

“If we didn’t have the spirit, this will, this desire, I am the first person to answer for this. The other team was more determined than us.”

It was a hugely disappointing way to end the Premier League season and doesn’t bode well for next week. Hopefully, Antonio Conte can turn things around in the next week and secure that FA Cup win.
