It appears that Antonio Conte and Chelsea may be looking towards the future, with the club reportedly monitoring the availability of Hamburg’s young attacker Jann-Fiete Arp.
The story in German news source SportBild via the Metro suggests that Chelsea are keen on the 17-year old and have previously made an offer for the German youngster, but look increasingly likely to get him to west London in 2018, due to the player only having a year left on his deal from next summer.
Jann-Fiete Arp made his senior debut this season and has so far scored twice in three appearances for Hamburg in the Bundesliga – but Chelsea will be wary with the report suggesting that Tottenham and Arsenal are also interested.
The player’s agent has also been keen to speak out on a potential move via the report and has said that Arp will decide towards the conclusion of the season whether or not to sign a new deal in Hamburg or look to the Premier League.
However, game-time assurances could be crucial on a potential move away from the Bundesliga – would the striker be given a regular role with the Blues? With Conte seemingly happy to settle with one recognised striker at any time it would be difficult to see a player like Arp ousting Alvaro Morata.
