Antonio Conte has voiced his regret at Chelsea’s sale of Kevin De Bruyne under Jose Mourinho (via The Metro).
It was clear who the best player on the pitch was on Saturday night. Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne scored the only goal during their 1-0 victory over the Blues.
The Belgian returned to haunt his former side, three years after being sold to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.
De Bruyne returned to the Premier League just a year later with Manchester City and has since settled into the Premier League wonderfully well.
“for sure we are talking about a top player, the complete player,” Antonio Conte said about the Belgian. When asked about Chelsea’s decision to sell the midfielder back in 2014, Conte had this to say.
“I don’t know, honestly, what happened in the past.
“He’s good. Technical, fast, and he works hard for his team. He is the complete player.”
Kevin De Bruyne has been a wonderful player for Manchester City in the last couple of the years and his success has been a bitter pill to swallow for Chelsea fans. Let’s hope that the club doesn’t let any players of a similar quality slip through their fingers in the coming years.
