Antonio Conte has urged the Chelsea board to invest in Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal, describing the Chilean pair as “top players” (via The Metro).
The New Year is here but that only means one thing to football fans: the opening of the January transfer window.
Chelsea are in need of some reinforcements and it seems that Antonio Conte has identified a couple of big-name players he wants to sign: Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal.
The Blues, of course, take on Arsenal this evening and Conte was asked about the Gunners forward and his Chile teammate ahead of the match.
“You are talking about two big and strong players, top players for their roles,” Conte said in his pre-match press conference.
“Vidal is one of the best in the world, but Sanchez is the same as a striker.”
Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez looks set to leave the club in the coming months and Arturo Vidal’s place at Bayern Munich looks like it will soon be filled by Schalke’s Leon Goretzka. However, Conte declared that it is not up to him.
“I’m not involved in the transfer market,” he went on. “I give my opinion but the club decide for the players they want to buy, to invest in.
“I trust in my club and I’m sure they will take the best decision for the team.”
Either Alexis Sanchez or Arturo Vidal would be outstanding signings for Chelsea. The pair are clear improvements on the current team and would definitely be worth pursuing.
