Diego Costa seems to have calmed down his feud with manager Antonio Conte after the forward secured a return to Atletico Madrid (via The Metro).
Well, it may have taken longer than expected but at least it’s wrapped up now. Diego Costa has secured a return to Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish forward spent over three years at Stamford Bridge, helping the club to two Premier League titles.
However, the relationship between the striker and manager Antonio Conte has soured in the last few months after the Italian told Costa he was not a part of his plans for the season.
Costa was open about his desire to leave the club and rejoin former employers Atletico Madrid, thus beginning one of the sagas of the season. That deal has finally been wrapped up and Costa has spoken about both his move and Conte for the first time.
“There’s nothing of the sort there, I’m not upset with anybody, I have no bitterness towards anyone. Everything is cool,” Costa told Splash News.
“Everybody knows how much I love the fans.”
Costa was an excellent player for Chelsea during his three full seasons at the club but it’s the right decision for everybody to move him on. The forward has got his dream move and the Blues have got a new number nine in Alvaro Morata.
