Chelsea’s players returned to training as the dust settles on their European exit at the hands of Barcelona and it would appear that the focus is now squarely on knocking Leicester City out of the FA Cup this Sunday.
After playing in every single minute of this season’s FA Cup Willy Caballero’s run as the starting stopper appears to be under-threat for the Leicester tie with the manager Antonio Conte quoted in the Daily Mail as saying;
“I think that we are talking about two good goalkeepers, Thibaut and Willy.”
“We don’t have rules for the competition. I repeat, on Sunday I try to make the best decision because we want to try to go the next round.”
Some Blues fans may point to the fact that Thibaut Courtois was in some way at fault for at least one of the goals at the Nou Camp midweek, with Lionel Messi beating the Belgian at his near post for the opener on the night. However, winning the FA Cup will be a top priority (as well as Champions League qualification) so it also wouldn’t be such a shock to see Caballero dropped for a match between two sides desperate to book a place at Wembley.
Chelsea fans will likely expect Alvaro Morata to get the nod (ahead of Olivier Giroud) for Sunday’s game with the news that he will not feature for Spain during the international break.
