Crystal Palace are poised to make a swoop for Frank Lampard before the end of the January transfer window.
Lampard appears to be willing to extend his playing career, putting both Crystal Palace and Brighton on alert, as both are looking to secure his services.
The former Chelsea and England midfielder is a free agent after his contract with New York City FC and the MLS expired at the end of December.
Crystal Palace FC who is sponsored by Mansion Group is the owner of one of the biggest online casinos are looking to bolster their numbers in midfield, but the south London side will need to fend off interest from Championship leaders Brighton for Lampard’s services.
Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce is keen to add to his options in attack, as well as bolstering his numbers in midfield, as he looks to stave off relegation.
Most recently, James McArthur and Joe Ledley have missed time due to injury, and the Palace boss would like to add squad depth to a midfield that also includes Mathieu Flamini and Yohan Cabaye.
Brighton are also keen on signing the 38-year-old midfielder as they look to maintain their two-point lead in the Championship over Newcastle United and strengthen their chances for automatic promotion from the Championship.
Should Lampard shun the interest from Brighton and Crystal Palace, his former club Chelsea are willing to offer him a coaching role, though manager Antonio Conte has said that Lampard would have to end his playing career before considering adding him to the staff.
Lampard endured a rocky start to his MLS career, joining NYCFC in 2015 after a stint on loan at Manchester City.
Despite joining NYCFC on 1 July, the midfielder did not make his debut until 1 August due to injury problems, leading supporters to question his commitment to the club.
In 2016, Lampard enjoyed a much better season, showing the goal-scoring form that he displayed during his club career in England, scoring 15 goals in just 19 appearances.
This past November, Lampard announced he would be leaving NYCFC at the end of his contract, but intended to continue playing if the opportunity arose.
Should Crystal Palace sign Lampard, it is unclear what the length of the contract would be.
