Good afternoon and welcome to Thursday’s transfer news update from CFCnet, where we take a look at the potential arrivals and departures at Stamford Bridge this coming transfer window.
Colombian Juan Cuadrado has failed to make an impact since joining from Fiorentina in January for £22 million and according to reports, both Chelsea are keen to send him back to Serie A.
As part of this original deal Chelsea winger Mohammed Salah went in the other direction on a loan deal and has had a successful spell in Italy. The reports further suggest that Salah has impressed Jose Mourinho and the Portuguese man is interested in keeping him back to Stamford Bridge now his loan is up.
It could end up being a bizarre twist to the deal and could see a premature end to Cuadrado’s spell at Chelsea. The player has not really broke through and when he did play, he didn’t seem anywhere near up to the standard of the current crop of champions. Salah had a similar start to his career at Chelsea but being still of a young age, seems to have pushed on and developed, albeit in a completely different league to the premier league.
Fiorentina apparently want to keep Salah for another season on loan but the Egyptian International is willing to talk to Chelsea and get an understanding of the clubs plans for him and then decide on his future.
Cuadrado will however want to be given a chance to prove his worth at Chelsea and warrant his move, a move that he described as being his ‘dream’. It’s an interesting situation if anything were to happen here but with Chelsea looking to spend out on a striker, they are seeking ways to fund this.
