Tottenham have finally signed a new defender on deadline day, but it’s not any of the reported names, it’s Marcel Lavinier from Chelsea’s youth side.
According to a report in Sportslens, confirmed by the 19-year-old on social media, Lavinier has confirmed the move to north London.
Delighted to have signed for @spursofficial in the next step of my career. Very big club with very high ambitions. Grateful for this opportunity and I can’t wait to get started !🔥 #COYS🤍🤍 pic.twitter.com/3s0vde5Vkm

Marcel Lavinier is a youth product of Chelsea, but seemingly had no route into the first team under Frank Lampard, and it’s Jose Mourinho who is taking the chance on the youngster and will hope he can eventually make the breakthrough at Spurs.
A move for Antonio Rudiger, likely on-loan to Spurs looked to be one that would happen at one point earlier in the day, but it’s a deal that failed to materialise as the clock ticked down to the deadline on Monday.
