Chelsea fans are a little bit more in the know after Eden Hazard revealed that he will indeed open talks to sign a new Chelsea contract, but only on the condition that a ‘dream’ move to Real Madrid is completely off the table next summer.
It was expected in the summer that Real Madrid would make a concrete offer for Eden Hazard after selling Cristiano Ronaldo, however no offer materialised and the player and the Blues had to deal with almost daily speculation.
The quotes carried in the Telegraph are worryingly honest, with Hazard once again admitting Real are a ‘dream’ move for him, while on the other hand saying Chelsea are a club that has given him ‘everything’;
“I don’t want to say, ‘yes, I am signing a new contract’ and then in the end I don’t end up signing.”
“I want what’s good for me, but I want what’s good for the club because the club has given me everything.”
“Sometimes in my head, I wake up in the morning and think I want to go. Sometimes I think I want to stay. It is a hard decision.”
“Real Madrid are the best club in the world. It is my dream since I was a kid, I was dreaming about this club. We will talk about my future soon.”
Ultimately the Telegraph suggest that Eden Hazard will put a contract signing on hold until he gets a firm indication of what Real Madrid want to do next summer. If Madrid to indicate they want him, then Chelsea are set to expect the Belgian will inform them of his decision to leave Stamford Bridge.
