News started to break over the weekend that Chelsea are seemingly resigned to the fact that Eden Hazard will leave the club in the very near future, with Real Madrid the most likely destination.

Circulating transfer stories were going around that the Blues’ top goalscorer could even leave as early as January, but quotes from an interview released via French TV have gone some way to clarifying the latest developments.

Talking to Canal Plus via ITV News, Eden Hazard has opened up on his options, but has all but ruled out a move in the January transfer window;

For now I’m staying at Chelsea.”

I have one year left in June. If I don’t extend, it (a move) is possible. I can’t see myself leaving in January. I wouldn’t do that to the club, to the fans.”

Next summer it’s a possibility, but it’s also possible that I spend the rest of my career at Chelsea.”

Having joined Chelsea back in 2012 from French Ligue 1 side Lille, the question was brought up whether or not he could envisage a move back to France likely with Paris St-Germain who have also been linked to the Blues star;

There has been contact in the past with PSG but I haven’t been tempted.”

If I have to go back to France one day, it would be to Lille. But today, there is no chance that I’ll come back in the French league.”

In the same interview with Canal Plus this time via the Metro, Eden Hazard talked more on PSG and Ligue 1 – in quotes that are very clear that if he were to leave Chelsea it would definitely not be France that’s next;

In terms of the level of Ligue 1, PSG walk it each weekend.”

When they play in the Champions League, they think maybe that it will be easy. But I think they struggle.”

I don’t like to judge Ligue 1 but it is true that, when I see PSG, yes it seems too easy.”

Eden Hazard is contract to Chelsea until the summer of 2020, but the Blues know they will have to have his future sorted within the next few months or risk losing their top asset for a reduced price in the final year of his contract.
