In what could be a stunning bit of transfer business, Everton are lining-up one of the big summer signings as they’ve targeted former Chelsea goalscorer Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid – according to the Sun.
If the link to Costa isn’t enough, the Spanish international striker himself is reportedly ‘ready to talk’ to Everton to become an instant figurehead for the Toffees, offering the club a long-awaited replacement for Romelu Lukaka.
Diego Costa’s time at Atletico Madrid appears to be coming to an end after the Spanish club’s moves for Joao Felix and Alvaro Morata – after spending so heavily on both players Atletico are likely to welcome incoming transfer funds.
The report even goes on to say that the former Chelsea favourite, before opting to leave Stamford Bridge, will apparently be sold for a loss to Atletico Madrid – they paid the Blues £57 million in 2017.
Chelsea will be wary of the potential return of a striker who scored over 50 goals for the club, especially so with Frank Lampard dealing with a two-window transfer ban that could see Everton close the gap on the top four.
