Chelsea have one of Fulham’s impressive youngsters on their January transfer radar and it’s not Ryan Sessegnon – Harvey Elliott, 15, has recently been training with the Cottagers’ first team squad after eye-catching displays at academy level.
The Evening Standard via the Express state that it’s not just Chelsea who are keen to sign the 15-year old, but rivals Manchester City, as well as European giants Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are also monitoring the progress of Harvey Elliott.
Elliott plays in midfield for Fulham and has been a regular in the clubs U18 Premier League season so far – while also being capped with the England U15’s, scoring two goals for his country.
Fulham will be wary of increased interest for Elliott from the likes of London rivals Chelsea, due to relative ease in which he could leave the club due to not being able to commit to a professional contract until he’s at least 17-year old. It will be as early as January 2018 that Elliott can sign a scholarship deal with Fulham – but all clubs will be aware that opens the door to offer an attractive alternative.
The potential downside for Blues fans potentially hoping to see an exciting talent like Harvey Elliott in this corner of west London will be that the club haven’t exactly been embracing their youth in recent years and many have been farmed out on-loan deals. No doubt Elliott will be aware of that and may opt to stay at Fulham like Ryan Sessegnon did – despite ‘big club’ interest.
