Olivier Giroud has claimed that Chelsea are his perfect club after his January deadline day move from Arsenal (via The Mirror).
It’s still a strange sight to witness Olivier Giroud wearing a Chelsea shirt.
We’re so used to seeing the Frenchman in red after his five-and-a-half years at Arsenal but now, Giroud is a Chelsea player after his deadline day move across London.
The £18 million deal put an end to Chelsea’s pursuit of a physical forward capable of playing in the air. Giroud was a good fit on that front and, it seems, Chelsea arse a good fit for Giroud too.
“It’s been a while since I played regularly and that’s why I needed to move. I needed a new challenge and Chelsea was the perfect club for me,” Giroud said in an interview.
“It’s a massive club and I am very proud to be here and to carry on my career in the Premier League.
“I had five amazing years there, but now it’s a new chapter of my career and I am focused 100 percent on the Blues to reach our targets. I’m very happy to be here.”
Olivier Giroud should prove to be a smart signing for Chelsea. If he has as big an impact from the bench for Chelsea as he has for Arsenal, it will be looked back on as a fine purchase.
