Season 2002/2003

CHELSEA 3-0 SUNDERLAND

We were good today. In the first half we had chances, but put none of them away. It was good to see de Lucas back, even though he was only pretty good — both he and Morris were subbed at half-time.

CHELSEA 1-0 MIDDLESBROUGH

They came, not exactly in their droves, from the smog-ridden city of Middlesbrough with one thing on their minds.

CHELSEA 3-0 BIRMINGHAM CITY

It is not every day that we get to beat Birmingham City. Not because they are anything to write home about, but simply because our paths do not cross very often.

CHELSEA 2-1 GILLINGHAM

And so it is time once more for the Worthless Cup. In its many guises over the years, from Milk to Coca Cola to Littlewoods to trifle (made that last one up by the way), it has gradually become a competition of little value to many Premiership clubs.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 0-0 CHELSEA

’Twas a dark night. All around there was a heavy smog and the few gaslights that were working were hardly visible to the naked eye. Somewhere in the distance, louder than the sound of the passing horses, came the shrill sound of a woman’s scream.

CHELSEA 2-0 WEST BROMWICH ALBION

It was not so much the boing-boing Baggies today — more of a boing-boing splat if anything. Tremendous fans, certainly the loudest to appear at the Bridge for a while, but the only place that this team will be bouncing to will be from whence they came.

MANCHESTER CITY 0-3 CHELSEA

Manchester — so much to answer for. But not as much as those bastard rail operators who do their utmost to screw up football supporters’ travel with regular weekend engineering works.
