Antonio Conte is reportedly “eager to return” as Italy manager, according to the new head of the Italy Football Federation, Roberto Fabbricini (via The Daily Mail).
It’s been a busy couple of days at Stamford Bridge. Several players left the club on loan on deadline day and the Blues brought in Olivier Giroud from Arsenal for £18 million.
After weeks of speculation, Chelsea finally brought in a forward but it doesn’t seem like the rumours will go away now that the transfer window is shut.

For months, Antonio Conte has been linked with an exit from Chelsea and more fuel was added to the fire by the new head of the Italian Football Federation.
Roberto Fabbricini has been appointed to the role and has wasted no time in frankly discussing who could be the next Italian manager.
“[Roberto] Mancini was in Rome but we didn’t contact him,” Fabbricini said.
“[Antonio] Conte seems eager to wear Azzurro again, [Carlo] Ancelotti opens and closes the door and [Claudio] Ranieri isn’t out either.
“There’s no-one in pole position, we have to evaluate the pros and cons. We also have to evaluate the availability of the Federation and explain to those who will come after us that there will be new governance.”
It’s interesting to see someone speak so openly about the behind-the-scenes world of football management. However, the fact that Antonio Conte appears so eager to return to his native Italy can’t bode well for Chelsea. Let’s see what happens in the coming months.
