Aston Villa’s hottest commodity Jack Grealish has all summer-long been linked strongly with Chelsea’s rivals Spurs, but there are also some links to a move to Stamford Bridge, and the Express and Star carry the story that former Villa man John Terry could be helping to push such a transfer.
Terry, currently unattached after leaving Villa after their failed promotion bid last season has been seen as some as the perfect intermediary between Jack Grealish and Chelsea, however the Blues legend shut down the rumours on social media (Instagram).
“… just to clarify I haven’t had any conversations with Chelsea regarding Jack, we all know he is good enough to play in the Premier League but we all want to see him do that with @avfcofficial come on boys good luck this season UTV.”
Terry wrote on Aston Villa’s official account in-reply to saying congratulations to the club signing up James Chester for another season, and with Jack Grealish and John Terry forming a close-bond last season, it’s not a surprise to see the speculation gaining momentum with less than a week until the window closes.
Currently Chelsea are the second favourites in the markets to sign Jack Grealish, but a move to north London is currently looking more likely. Villa though are going to make life tough if Chelsea do move with a few days of the window to go after fresh investment in the club – easing their financial position and need to sell.
