N’Golo Kante’s meteoric rise to becoming arguably one of the best, if not the best, defensive midfielder in world football, has been spectacular – winning the Premier League in back-to-back seasons with Leicester City and then in Antonio Conte’s debut season at the Bridge.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, with Chelsea missing out on Champions League football transfer speculation regarding the future of N’Golo Kante is beginning to bubble up through the rumour mills.
Paris Saint-Germain are one of a few select clubs that have the financial might to potentially tempt Chelsea players out of west London and according to the Express PSG are monitoring the Frenchman’s availability.
Chelsea do not want to sell N’Golo Kante and value the player in excess of €100 million and that is putting off Paris Saint-Germain at this point in time, with Thomas Tuchel’s French side keen but would want to see the value drop before making moves.
The Express carry quotes from N’Golo Kante when asked about the surrounding transfer talk interest in his services this summer;
“I have not been approached specifically by clubs.” “Today, I’m in Chelsea and I do not worry about what’s going on around it.” “I’m preparing for the World Cup, I only have that in mind.”
Kante is likely to be part of France’s starting eleven in this summer’s World Cup in Russia and will be expected to go deep in the tournament – with initial group games against Australia, Peru and Denmark.
One thing to consider for Blues fans might be the difference in summer transfer window closing times this season, with the Premier League’s slamming shut on August 9th just before the season starts, while the French window closes on August 31st.
If interest in Kante maintains throughout the summer, Chelsea will need to make a promising start in the league to fend off a still transfer active PSG for the remaining weeks of August.
