Any Chelsea fan not living under a rock for the last few days will know that Antonio Conte has made Michy Batshuayi his first signing at Stamford Bridge.
The Belgium striker, who scored 23 goals for Marseilles last season, has joined for £33m and signed a five-year contract.
At 22 years of age, he was one of the most coveted young players in Europe, and the Blues beat the likes of Tottenham, West Ham and Crystal Palace to his signature.
Despite spending big on Batshuayi, the papers don’t think that Conte is finished rebuilding his forward-line. The Telegraph suggested that, with Real Madrid still keen to sell Alvaro Morata, Chelsea are considering a £50m bid for the Spanish striker. The Daily Mail also reported that Conte is still interested in Morata, and that he wants to pair him up-front with Diego Costa.
The Telegraph believe that, if Conte can’t get his man, that he will turn to Graziano Pelle. Our new manager knows Pelle well after installing him as his first-choice striker with Italy, and Southampton are thought to be willing to sell.
However, several clubs are also being linked, including Everton, who are now managed by Pelle’s old boss, Ronald Koeman.
Kalidou Koulibaly is still being linked to Chelsea, with the Daily Star reporting that Napoli are holding out for £30m.
The Mirror say that the Senegalese centre-half chose to move to Chelsea – rather than Arsenal – back in May, and that the Blues have been working on a deal ever since.
Gazzetta World, the Italian paper, report that Emanuele Giaccherini wants to move to Chelsea.
The Italian winger was brought into the national squad by Antonio Conte, and is available for transfer after a disappointing three years at Sunderland.
However, Giaccherini impressed last season on loan at Bologna, as well as at this summer’s Euros.
Several French papers say that Chelsea will activate N’Golo Kante’s £20m release clause to buy him from Leicester.
The Premier League champions have just brought Nampalys Mendy, who is a similar player to Kante.
Diego Costa is reported by The Telegraph to have told his team-mates that he is staying at Chelsea this season.
The Spaniard has been regularly linked with a departure, and his former club Atletico are interested.
However, Costa is said to want to play under Antonio Conte in his new-look side.
Finally, John Obi Mikel has been linked with a move to Besiktas, the Turkish champions. An agent reported to be acting on Mikel’s behalf has said that talks have taken place, but that Mikel wants guaranteed first-team football.
