Marco Van Ginkel, remember him? The Dutch International came to The Bridge for around £8 million in July 2013 as a highly rated youngster tipped to be the pinnacle of his countries midfield for years to comes. He then struggled to get in to Chelsea’s first team and now according to reports, AC Milan will be sending him back to London at the end of his loan spell this summer.

It would be unfair to judge him by this however, he’s been injury prone since joining Chelsea which set him back with us, and he’s now suffered the same problems in Italy failing to get matches after struggling with injuries.

Still only 22-years-old, he could now have another chance with The Blues and will be expected to begin pre-season with them and providing he stays injury free, will get a chance to prove himself once again.

Milan apparently had the option to buy Van Ginkel on a permanent deal at the end of his loan, they will not be exercising this right and Van Ginkel will still be a Chelsea player.

The midfielder has only made 4 appearances for Milan this season and has featured twice for the International side. He was however a regular for the Under-21s National side featuring 23 times, and before that he was a product of the Vitesse youth system gaining 93 senior appearances and scoring 18 goals along the way.

The player deserves another shot and is still highly rated but it is important at this stage that he now shows his quality and stays injury free.
