The start of the ‘Whats it Called Now’ Cup gives RDM the chance to give some of the less active players a run out, albeit against Championship opposition. It also gives some of the fans a chance to get to the Bridge who aren’t season ticket holders or members. On the playing front it will be especially good to see young Victor Moses who has impressed in his cameo roles in recent games. Moses is quick, direct and strong, with that famous low centre of gravity that short players are blessed with.
Although not blessed with the technical skills of either Oscar or Hazard, Moses seems to excite the fans when he gets the ball and always wants to do something with it. Hopefully young full back Azpilicueta will also be given a bash tonight as he is one player that I have been looking forward to seeing. With Branner being in such fine form lately and solid in defence it will be interesting to see what the young Spaniard has to offer. As for other changes? Well Studge would be an obvious choice up front but seems to be going through a bad illness and injury stage at the moment so maybe an opportunity for Piazon to be another Brazilian given a run out at the Bridge. In fact there are more Brazilians at Stamford Bridge than there are in an episode of TOWIE. So who will play between the sticks? I suspect Cech to be rested but with a choice of Turnbull, Hilario or Blackman the choice is difficult.
Most fans are aware of the merits of the two senior backups so why not give Blackman a bash and see if he can hack it. He looks a strong young man and he has plenty of experience of the big match atmosphere so why not? So expect a team with plenty of changes but what about our opponents?
Wolves have started reasonably well in their return to the Championship but have lost the vast majority of their ‘decent players’. I don’t suppose for a minute that Wolves will want to risk their top first team players for this competition, so expect many changes for our visitors too. Maybe Mr. S. Hunt will be out there tonight so an opportunity for fans to give him a welcome. So a prediction for tonight? 3-0 to Chels with the goals being shared around.
