Good Morning Blues and welcome to Wednesday’s Transfer Centre from CFCnet, where we take a look at the latest Chelsea transfer rumours during this January window.
Today has seen some pretty big sources stating that The Blues are close to landing three new attacking players, some whispers even suggesting deals will be done before the weekend.
The Alex Teixeira saga has been going on for some time since the player himself confirmed talks with Chelsea. Many sources had stated that the deal would go through during this window but it appears more likely that his club Shahktar are pushing the deal back until the summer, with the fee still being quoted as £30 million, a move is said to be in place though.
Meanwhile, within the last hour Sky Sports sources have confirmed that Chelsea are interested in signing Ezequiel Lavezzi from Paris Saint-Germain. Many press outlets reported this last week while Sky in Italy understand the player’s agent, Alejandro Mazzoni, is in London today and could meet representatives from Chelsea, who are one of the options available to him.
They also understand he has offers in Italy, including Inter Milan, who have taken concrete steps to sign him. Lavezzi’s contract runs out in the summer, so for his club to recoup any kind of payment back for him, a deal will have to happen this month.
Finally, the Alexandre Pato links are growing stronger by the minute as a number of top sources are stating that the player is in advanced talks to sign with Chelsea and it could happen today or tomorrow.
I quote perhaps the strongest link from ESPN ” Alexandre Pato is close to joining Chelsea from Corinthians, multiple sources have told ESPN. Former AC Milan forward Pato, 26, has confirmed he is interested in moving to the Premier League this winter and ESPN FC has been told that Chelsea are in advanced talks with the forward’s agent.”
“Sources told ESPN Brasil that Pato has verbally agreed a deal and he is set to sign a contract worth €2.3 million (£1.77m) a year with the West London club.”
I feel that this could be the fresh injection of talent needed up top, especially Pato. I have friends in Brazil who are avid watchers of the Brazilian league and are telling me that Pato “is playing with real class these days, really peaking to a quality level”
