Newcastle United are keen to sign Kenedy on a permanent deal from Chelsea after impressing on loan (via Evening Standard).
Kenedy’s talent was clear to see even way back when he made his Chelsea debut under Jose Mourinho in August 2015.
The Brazilian had arrived from Fluminense just a week earlier but slotted into the team well and showed flashes of real brilliance.
After that, he failed to really establish a place in the Chelsea team and things looked bad after a disappointing loan spell at Watford in 2016.
The player’s career in England looked to be over but that has all changed in recent weeks since moving on loan to Newcastle United in the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old has impressed in his first few weeks and scored his first Premier League goals in two years on the weekend.
Now, reports suggest that Rafa Benitez’s side are keen to open talks with Chelsea over a permanent deal for the player.
It’s unclear if Chelsea would be willing to do that after reportedly refusing to add an option to buy in this current Newcastle deal. Kenedy is clearly a talented player and if he can show that on a regular basis then the Blues would be better off keeping him.
