Good morning Blues and welcome to Friday’s News Updates from CFCnet, where we take a look at the latest Chelsea news, transfer rumours and anything else surrounding the club.
Well, as some supporters mourn the departure of Jose Mourinho, others are relieved as split reactions continue to pour in. But over at Cobham, it is business as usual as the players arrive for training ahead of a huge match against Sunderland at the weekend.
As well as that, transfer talk continues to circulate and this morning has bought some surprise news regarding former Manchester City and Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor. The powerful forward had been linked with Chelsea back in the summer and today it has been revealed that the player has held talks with Chelsea, Watford and West Ham over a potential return to the Premier League.
Of course we are looking at this one with a pinch of salt as it appears the rumour has come from The Daily Mirror, not the most reliable of sources. Even so, it’s a surprise rumour for a 31 year old striker and I’m afraid that he is not the kind of forward that we need right now, but within the current climate – realistically, nothing will surprise me now!
Finally, it would appear that Chelsea’s new Manager is Guus Hiddink, although not yet officially confirmed. Sky Sports have said at 9am today that Hiddink’s appointment is ‘expected’, whilst his former employers The Australian FA, have already shared their congratulations to the new Chelsea Manager via social media, before deleting it later.
The 69-year old is expected to return for a second spell as interim Manager at the club and this news has been greeted by praise of his managerial skills via former players and even former Assistant Manager Ray Wilkins, who claims Hiddink will be the ideal man to move Chelsea back up the league table.
We will bring you the news throughout today as the announcement is expected to happen before the game tomorrow.
