Good Morning Blues and welcome to Wednesday’s News Updates from CFCnet, where we take a look at the latest Chelsea news, transfer rumours and anything else surrounding the club.
Well, as Interim Manager Guus Hiddink prepares for his first game in charge immediately after Christmas, the talk is still very much focusing on the man who will be coming in as the permanent Boss at the end of the season. We’ve heard many names floating around as expected, such as the likes of Manuel Pellegrini and Pep Guardiola and of course the much talked about Diego Simeone who still seems a likely candidate.
But to the surprise and annoyance of many others, Roberto Mancini is the latest the be mentioned in regards to the post.
According to FC Inter news, the Blues are seriously eyeing Mancini, and are tabling a two-year deal worth £6.2m-a-season. It’s also claimed that the Italian would be given substantial funds to restore Chelsea to their place at the top of the Premier League.
Inter are likely to oppose the move, however, given that the 51-year-old has led them to the top of Serie A in his first season in charge.
Simeone meanwhile, is likely to demand full control over all club transfers if he is to join Chelsea, something that we know this club has never given to a Manager before.
A source close to Simeone told The Telegraph that he is extremely happy at Atlético and will only consider quitting Spain for Chelsea if all of his conditions are met. The final say over all incoming transfers would be a “non-negotiable”
In other news, Eden Hazard is still wanted by Real Madrid and is seen as Cristiano Ronaldo’s long term replacement, and Manager Guus Hiddink has re-arranged the Christmas schedule in order to give the players extra time off with their families in an attempt to improve morale at the club.
Finally, we knew this a few months ago as the player had stated it himself, but it is becoming even more apparent that Alex Teixeira WILL be joining Chelsea in January.
According to the Express, the 25-year-old has verbally agreed to join Chelsea, with discussions now taking place over a five-year deal and the player’s fee. A Brazilian international that can play behind the striker or in a wider attacking position, Teixeira certainly possesses the firepower to kick-start Chelsea’s faltering season.
That is one hell of a signing if you ask me!
