Good morning Blues and welcome to Monday’s Christmas week News Updates from CFCnet, where we take a look at the latest Chelsea news, transfer rumours and anything else surrounding the club.
Yesterday bought us some disturbing news but also inevitable. After our former Manager and club legend Jose Mourinho announced through his agent that he will not be taking a sabbatical, the rumours were obviously going to start flying in, and after Manchester United lost to Norwich at the weekend, Louis Van Gaal’s job is hugely under threat and Mourinho is the man being talked about to take over.
The rumours from the tabloids are suggesting that according to friends of Mourinho, he would jump at the chance to take over at United, telling them that some jobs are just impossible to turn down, despite his former club Real Madrid wanting him back there. Mourinho is thought to want to stay in London.
Well, of course anything can happen in football but I and many other supporters will be distraught if he goes to United, but at the same time something like this was always bound to happen. We now have Hiddink and it is this man who we must concerntrate on and back 100% with our faith to pull us out of this rut. This is our focus now.
Meanwhile, as Radamel Falcao goes for showdown talks with the new Manager, continued talk is regarding bringing in extra fire power up front. Karim Benzema and Javier Hernandez are the latest two players to be rumoured targets.
This from The Metro, Chelsea are considering a January transfer move for Real Madrid star Karim Benzema, according to reports. The Blues have been monitoring the striker’s situation after it emerged that the Frenchman was unhappy in the Spanish capital.
Real president Florentino Perez is keen that the attacker does not leave the club as he’s one of his favourite players. But Benzema is unhappy at the club and is ready to seal a Premier League move in January, according to the Mirror.
The France international was underwhelmed with the lack of support from some of his team-mates over the Mathieu Valbuena scandal. And Chelsea will attempt to bring the 28-year-old to Stamford Bridge, despite facing criminal charges off the pitch.
Spanish outlet Don Balon (h/t George Bellshaw of Metro) claimed the Premier League champions will swoop for Chicharito in January and are confident of luring the Mexican goalscoring machine. Via Bleacher Report.
Finally, The Sun says that Didier Drogba is wanted by both Guus Hiddink and Roman Abramovich to join back with Chelsea in a coaching role. It is not clear whether it will be part a playing part as well as Drogba is keen to carry on playing and has a year left in the MLS currently.
For Drogba to be in and around Stamford Bridge will be huge in any aspect for me. His desire and raw passion for the club will influence the players and for me, we simply have to get him in as a coach.
