Chelsea could be set for a somewhat unexpected cash windfall if the pressure continues to pile up-on Roma’s under-pressure boss Eusebio Di Francesco, who could be replaced by former Blues boss Antonio Conte – who is technically still under-contract at Stamford Bridge.
Italian news source Calcionews24 via the Express have stated that Premier League winning boss Antonio Conte is viewed as a potential replacement – but Roma would have to fork out on releasing him from his Blues deal – which still 10 more months to run, valued at £9 million-a-season.
Eusebio Di Francesco who has so far only overseen one win in three Serie A fixtures is facing a tricky run of fixtures after the international break, including a Champions League group opener against European champions Real Madrid as well as a Rome Derby against arch-rivals Lazio.
It’s not surprising to see Roma looking at the Premier League and FA Cup winning boss, who was replaced by Maurizio Sarri in the summer in west London – Conte has won three Serie A title with Juventus as well as an Italian Serie B title with Bari.
Roma will find themselves in the same position as Chelsea this summer, with the club having to fork out over £4 million to appoint Maurizio Sarri, who too was under-contract with Napoli, despite already being replaced by another former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Chelsea could very well do with making some money back on the managerial-front, having Conte on the payroll and the big payout to Napoli back in July.
