CFCnet looks at the predicted Chelsea line up vs BATE ahead of kick-off on Thursday in a decisive Europa League group game, which could see the Blues through to the knockouts, with two games to spare.
Interestingly, as reported in the Metro, Eden Hazard has travelled to Belarus – a surprise inclusion, considering the Belgian’s recent back injury issues.
Hazard was very effective as a second half-subsitite at the weekend, setting up a goal and breathing life into another Blues victory.
Maurizio Sarri is likely to give Olivier Giroud a chance up-front, with the 32-year old set to replace the in-form Alvaro Morata. Giroud has an impressive four assists in his nine league outings this season, but is yet to register a goal.
While perhaps more Blues fans would like to see more rotation ahead of another tricky Premier League tie at the weekend against Everton, Sarri is likely to name big names like Kepa, Kovacic, Pedro and Willian in the Chelsea XI.
The one area of the team that is likely to see full rotation is in defence with Gary Cahill and Andreas Christensen set to partner up again, as they have in the past two previous Europa League game wins.
Predicted Chelsea Line Up vs BATE Borisov XI
Goalkeeper: Kepa Arrizabalaga
Defenders: Davide Zappacosta, Gary Cahill, Andreas Christensen, Emerson.
Midfielders: Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Cesc Fabregas, Mateo Kovacic, Pedro, Willian.
Striker: Olivier Giroud.
