According to reports on Monday afternoon, Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has claimed that the guarantee of first team football will be the deciding factor as he contemplates his move to the Premier League.

The 21-year-old French International is touted as the best young centre back in world football and his focus is to be playing regularly. Many media outlets are now favouring a move to Manchester United for the defender as they are most likely the ones to be able to offer that straight away.

Chelsea currently operate with three centre backs competing for a starting place with the emergence of Varane’s International team mate Kurt Zouma. However, Gary Cahill is experiencing a slight loss of form recently with Mourinho losing faith in the England International, and John Terry of course not getting any younger.

Terry currently operates on a rolling contract at Chelsea and has yet to sign a new deal for next season, although it is expected to happen soon. After receiving a Man of the Match award in the Capital One Cup Final on Sunday afternoon, he continues to prove that he is still one of the best defenders around.

Arsenal fans will certainly feel that Varane will be a starter if he decides to head to the red part of London, although he would need to compete with another country team mate Laurent Koscielny and German World Cup winner Per Mertesacker.

Manchester United would be the obvious choice for first team football as Manager Louis Van Gaal looks to rebuild in the summer and the back line is certainly something he is looking to change around.

United have almost signed the youngster before when he was at Lens and are putting the moves in place to gather up a £30 million offer for the Madrid man, that will certainly be a signing of intent from Van Gaal as he looks to turn the club around.
