After a somewhat disheartening game against the Italian champions it is time for the current premier league leaders to bounce back from last week’s tedious 0-0 match. It is no secret that RDM got his tactics wrong against QPR, however I believe he gets his tactics wrong almost every game. This is because our legend Frank Lampard is no longer good enough to start for Chelsea. He is not a box to box midfielder anymore thus our new formation does not suit him. We accommodate him by playing him in the double pivot, but he is useless there especially against big teams. Frank has no defensive strengths does not have much creativity and does not pass the ball quick enough to the front three.
The birth of the Kings road’s Kaka on Wednesday night gives RDM an excuse to sit Lampard. Oscar is one of the most dynamic players I have seen in a while. He can play in the holding two on the right, left and in behind he is a true midfield general. Yes he scored great goals but one thing that goes unnoticed from the Juventus game was his marking of Pirlo. Oscar completely stifled him and thus disrupted Juventus overall midfield game, and has earned himself a permanent spot in the starting XI.
Against Stoke at home I would hope that Di Matteo throws out an attacking line-up and lets teams fear us. With the new additions Chelsea can afford to have a front six of Torres, Mata Hazard, Moses (Oscar and Ramires- in the double pivot). This would cause Tony Pulis’ side all sorts of problems as Stoke have trouble defending quick teams, and have a poor away record. In addition I would like to see changes to our back four, let’s give Cahill a deserving start, and Cesar Azpillicueta his debut. Chelsea have so much attacking prowess that must be shown tomorrow. Off the bench Chelsea also have the likes of Marko Marin who recently came back from injury and young Lucas Piazon. Lucas Piazon will be one to watch this year because RDM certainly hopes he can somehow bring him into the first team this year. We should get our first look at him against Wolves in the Capital One Cup next week.
In summary RDM and the Blues should bag an easy three points at the Bridge tomorrow and if not there will be a lot of talk at the Bridge from cliché lazy journalism. Pep will be coming next year, Roman is buying Falcao and a whole load of nonsense. However I expect our Blues to dominate Stoke tomorrow and keep the rest of the premier league on alert
Predicted XI: Cech Azpillicueta Terry Cahill Bertrand Ramires Mikel Hazard Oscar Moses Torres
Result 4-0 Chelsea (scorers Torres Hazard and Oscar)
