Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is reportedly back, well sort of. The Russian billionaire has been out of the spotlight in recent seasons, but it appears the owner wants to put a personal touch to the potential transfer of Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz.

Abramovich is keen to see the German star sign for Chelsea and is prepared to green light the clubs move to trigger the asking price of £90million, that is according to the Express.

The 21-year-old German isn’t short of potential suitors, with rivals Manchester United and Liverpool keen, as well as La Liga giants Real Madrid, who appear to have the edge.

Havertz has impressed all visiting scouts this season with 15 goals across all competitions, including three in three Europa League matches. The versatile attacking midfielder has played as a winger and forward this season – scoring seven in seven up-front.

Chelsea have so far agreed to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, with Timo Werner set to be the next to be confirmed. Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell and Brentford’s Said Benrahma are also being targeted by Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.
