With the transfer window reopen there’s plenty of talk swirling around Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, with a surprise name being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this month.

According to a report in the Mirror, it’s claimed that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has shown displeasure in the performances of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and their back-up options and has suggested a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Mendy has proved an astute signing given his small transfer fee, but a string of bad results and the desire for a big name to re-shape the backline has promoted rumours of a swoop on financially-struck Barcelona.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen, 29, is wanted by manager Xavi, but the board would reluctantly accept a bid that would ease financial pressure and this is where Chelsea could swoop this January.
