Chelsea are in-action away in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final vs Frankfurt, but have to contend with an injury-crisis that has given manager Maurizio Sarri plenty of problems ahead of kick-off.
Injuries to both Gary Cahill and Antonio Rudiger will leave Chelsea exposed at the back should either Christensen or Luiz need to leave the field of play on Thursday in Frankfurt.
Maurizio Sarri was quoted in the Independent saying that his side are “in trouble” ahead of the Europa League semi-final;
“We hope to recover him in one week. So we are in trouble with the centre backs. For the last two trainings we played with Azpilicueta at centre back. So we are in trouble.”
In-attack expect Olivier Giroud to slot back in and replace Gonzalo Higuain – the Frenchman was the striker of choice in both legs of the quarter final against Slavia Prague.
Pedro, similar to Giroud, started both quarter-final victories and is likely to be given the nod ahead of Willian on Thursday.
In-midfield it appears to be toss up decision between Mateo Kovacic or Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
