Chelsea usher in the return of the Premier League after a long international break, with the early Saturday afternoon kick-off away to Newcastle.

Speaking to gathered press (via Chelsea FC Official) ahead of the trip to St James’ Park on Saturday, Frank Lampard ruled out two key players for the Chelsea line up vs Newcastle, but welcomed back German international Kai Havertz for selection;

‘Christian Pulisic is not fit for Newcastle but he’s stepped up his training slowly.’

‘Kai Havertz is back.’

‘Silva has just landed, he probably won’t go to Newcastle because of the journey.’

The news that Thiago Silva is out will be a blow for Lampard, considering the veteran Brazilian has become an integral part of the Blues’ now mean looking defence.

Timo Werner has seemingly had little time to train with the first team since returning from international duty, so there’s a chance the German could start from the bench. The same could be said for Kai Havertz, so a midfield of Mount, Jorginho and Kante is likely.

Victory on Saturday would elevate Chelsea to the top of the Premier League, at least until the likes of Leicester and Tottenham play their games later.

Predicted Chelsea line up vs Newcastle
