Reports are circling today that Frank Lampard has ‘agreed’ to take charge of Chelsea, with all that’s needed is both parties to make it official – a deal is expected to be announced this week at some point.
According to talkSPORT via a report in Italy, Frank Lampard will sign a contract until 2022, with the club expected to give the legendary midfielder a ‘two year pass’, regardless of a potential lack of silverware and the performance of the club next season, under the veil of a transfer ban.
Terms on the agreement between Derby and Chelsea are expected to go smoothly, or indeed have already been sorted – compensation of around £4 million will be paid to the Championship play-off finalists.
Jody Morris will also return to Chelsea, likely in an assistant managerial role as he was at Derby, while reports that another former midfielder, Claude Makelele will also join Frank Lampard’s staff.
