Monday 11 April
Everton U21 2:0 Chelsea U21
A scruffy pitch and a couple of set piece goals conceded summed up a poor night for the U21s as they suffered a defeat for the first time since November. Some mind might be looking over to Switzerland already.
Tuesday 12 April
Manchester City beat PSG to progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League. But the PSG they played were disjointed, confused, lazy and lackadaisical. A very far cry from the energetic, confident and efficient side we played last month. Typical. The betting for the Champions League is getting very interesting.
Wednesday 13 April
A couple of pre-season friendly matches in Austria for your diary: Rapid Vienna are opening a new stadium called the Alliance Arena … (isn’t that the name of Bayern Mu…. shh… I think they know) on Saturday 16 July at 6pm and Wednesday 20 July we play Riegler & Zechmeister Pellets Wolfsberger Athletik Club. Yes, officially the longest most un-singable team name in history – know as Wolfsberger or WAC by their long-suffering fans.
Friday 15 April
Chelsea U19 3:0 Anderlecht U19
A totally dominant Chelsea saw off Anderlecht with ease. We scored three through the lively Casey Palmer, the unusual Charlie Colkett and the usual Tammy Abraham; they won a corner.
The final might be more of a challenge as PSG overcame real Madrid with a very physical performance.
Saturday 16 April
Chelsea 0:3 Manchester City
Hands up who thought selling Kevin De Bryune was a bad idea.
The wee scamp ran ring around a tired and directionless looking Chelsea. It is hard to get up in the morning when there are no prizes just toil but Chelsea looked listless and uncompetitive.
A refereeing performance of petty niggling didn’t help but we were a long way short of competitive.
The free cans of energy drink weren’t even enough to get us up off our arses. Roll on the summer.
Sunday 17 April
Chelsea 2:1 Manchester City
A very last gasp goal from Fran Kirby ensured the women’s team march into their second consecutive Wembley final in the FA Cup.
It was a close thing all round after Ji So-Yun scored a cracking free-kick right at the end of 90-minutes to draw us level and then Kirby kept her head just after they’d nearly scored to save us from penalties.
