Chelsea 2:0 Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels
The women’s team warmed up for the spring series games with an impressive opener against South Korean champions. New signing Marin Mjelde smashed in a twenty yard opener in the second-half before Millie Bright headed in an Eni Aluko cross.
The women have five more warm-up matches before the truncated season starts with the FA Cup in mid March.
Saturday 11 February
Leicester City U18 0:3 Chelsea U18
The Morris men clinched the southern division title with two games to spare and showed a great deal of fight and determination to get there. Jody Morris’ charges have been impressing more and more each week and, even at this club so used to success at junior level, they might be the tightest unit we’ve ever seen.
Martell Taylor-Crossdale scored the opener and a George McEachran strike made it 0-2 before the half hour. What looked like it could become a rout subsided into a struggle and it was only a late Luke McCormick penalty that sealed the points.
Spurs lost the tea-time match with Liverpool meaning we can move 12-points clear if we overcome the clarets tomorrow. Does this result change anything in regards to the Premier League title odds? If you want to find out more, why not take advantage of a Betfair bonus code? Will the 12 point advantage be enough?
Down in the Championship and Tammy Abraham scored his 20th and 21st goals of Bristol City’s season but Derby stormed beck from 0-3 down to earn a point while Huddersfield enjoyed a fourth Izzy Brown strike in five games as the beat QPHa to move third in the table.
Sunday 12 February
Burnley 1:1 Chelsea
This was the biggest fight we’ve had this season and, despite a brilliant free-kick leveller, saw us take a ten-point lead.
Pedro ran on to Victor Moses pass to put us ahead and with a more central Eden Hazard and Costa working similar openings it looked like a stroll in the freezing sleet but their leveller burst the bubble and they defended exceptionally well for the rest of the match.
Courtois had to make a couple of saves but there were few chances just unrelenting toil.
We were not at our best but picking up difficult points is what marks out teams that will challenge for the title.
Chelsea 2:2 Rosengard
Another battle this time for the women’s team as they fought back for a draw with Champion League regulars Rosengard. The Swedes opened the scoring early but goals for the Blues from Karen Carney and Katie Chapman meant they needed a late equaliser. We will gloss over the missed penalty as this is a pre-season exercise.
The girls move on to a trip to Portugal and warm weather training Rosengard move on to a Champions League quarter-final with Barcelona.
