Yesterday, at the opening ceremony of The World Cup, the staff here at CFCnet Towers crowded around our black & white portable TV to watch through a flickering screen the first game of the tournament between South Africa and Mexico. Thankfully the fridge was full of fizzy stuff – I told Peter not to open the door as we got a huge puddle on the floor. So, tonight, again we’ll be watching England, hoping that Frank can score and get us off to a fine start against the USA – as long as the huge puddle gets cleared up in time!

The World Cup in South Africa started yesterday with the opening game between South Africa and Mexico ending in a 1-1 draw. The evening fixture saw France playing Uruguay. The French team included Nicolas Anelka, with substitute Florent Malouda coming on later in the game.
