Yes Chelsea have suffered their worst run in the Abramovich era, and have made history by becoming the first defending champion to be knocked out in the group stages of the Champions league, but there are some positives to look at.

Firstly, Chelsea got off to their first win under Rafa Benitez and won pretty handsomely. Secondly, Chelsea have the club world cup and latter stages of the league cup to look forward to. Lastly, January is coming soon and the Chelsea transfer news is very positive: the likes of Falcao, Fellaini, Paulinho, and Huntelaar have been heavily  linked with us especially Falcao. Think of it as fate, Chelsea were knocked into the Europa league stages so Falcao could win it for a third successive year.

This weekend Chelsea face a tricky away tie at Sunderland- who have been very inconsistent thus far. With Chelsea performing excellently against Nordsjælland and Torres scoring a brace albeit they were minnows, it looks like Chelsea could rack up a few points and gain some ground on the title race before Roman inevitably enters phase 2 of the rebuild in January. Rafa will surely hope to go to Sunderland and dominate them, although it is clear that for some reason Rafa does not like playing all three number 10s and opts for two of them with Moses who has been playing excellently. Last week it was Oscar the week before it was Mata and this week may be Hazard who is sacrificed for tactical reasons. This should be a game that defines Chelsea’s season as an immediate response is needed after an embarrassing Champions league exit. However how is Chelsea going to score goals this week? because it is clear that although Torres scored 2 in midweek he just is not a quality player anymore. For example Torres has only scored more than one goal in a game since his move to Chelsea against : Genk, Leicester, QPR, Ireland, and Nordsjælland. All minnows but Sunderland are not really a quality side so maybe he will deliver the goods.

In Summary, it could be a game that goes really well for Chelsea or the exact opposite and place even more pressure on Rafa Roman and the club. However that massive Nordsjælland win might mean something for the players morale and it could have them brimming with confidence.

Predicted XI: Cech, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole , Luiz, Mikel, Mata, Oscar, Moses, Torres
