Good Morning Blues and welcome to Wednesday’s Transfer Centre from CFCnet, where we take a look at the latest Chelsea transfer rumours during the January window.
Yesterday we reported that Alex Teixeira was set to join Chelsea despite a few complications, this was according to The Star. Of course this was taken with a pinch of salt due to the source even though is is apparent that the deal was on the cards.
Today, Express sport has joined the confirmation of sources saying that the deal will be completed any day now. They claim that the Brazilian will be the first signing under Guus Hiddink for a fee of around £30 million.
Meanwhile, as it emerged yesterday that Loic Remy is close to joining Galatasaray, the search for a new striker continues and perhaps the biggest story surfacing today is that Chelsea are looking to beat Tottenham to the signing of West Brom front man Saido Berahino.
Hiddink has confirmed that he is looking at the striker situation with injuries affecting numbers but he has ruled out Patrick Bamford as being a solution, claiming that he needs to prove himself in the Under 21s first after a lack of playing time recently.
So Berahino could well be a target as the player himself publicly wants to move. But The Times are also claiming that both Jamie Vardy from Leicester and Emmanuel Adabayor are also both an option. Both being players that have been mentioned as targets previously.
Personally I can’t see Vardy leaving Leicester in January, but Berahino and Adabayor could both be potential realistic options to add to the numbers although I am not sure sure that Berahino will join Chelsea and sit the bench.
