The Mirror have released an article within the last hour claiming that Marseille’s Loic Remy is currently in talks with Chelsea officials regarding a move to the club on deadline day.
Take this how you will, The Mirror have been known to get some wrong, as well as they have got some right too, so there could be some truth to this rumour.
I’ve also heard various sources telling me that there is no truth behind the reports from Metro that we are in talks with Leverkusen regarding Andre Schurrle. These aren’t my own sources, but they are pretty reliable I’m lead to believe.
Back to Remy, there is definitely an interest from Chelsea, they have been pondering a move for the player who is on their current shortlist. We clearly want to bolster the striking options whether we lose Sturridge or not. With the latest claims saying that Remy is now in one-way talks with Chelsea, after his talks with Tottenham broke down, it seems there is a strong canter gathering for this deal that would suggest there could be something in it.
Remy is a highly rated French international who plays as a centre forward, he can operate on both wings or as a second striker. At 25-years-old he offers great stamina, pace and is a very powerful forward. A decent backup striker for us in my opinion, will offer cover for Torres in rotation and in case of injuries.
I am going to do some digging to see what I can find out about this deal.
