The big story on Sky Sports this morning is “Jose Mourinho silent on Wayne Rooney interest”. Jose said “We play Man United in a few days. I don’t think it’s nice to speak about a Man United player.” So not exactly silent, but the reporter obviously didn’t get the answer he wanted. I’m sure if Rooney wanted to come to the Bridge he would have done so last summer.

Chelsea are chasing Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic, according to some reports. Apparently Ron and co have offered £21 million to bring him back to the club. Some Twitter reports have said that he is not in the Benfica squad for their weekend fixture against Porto. What does this mean? He’s probably injured.

PSG want to sign Eden Hazard. I can safely say that 99.9% of European Clubs would want to sign Eden Hazard. Jose Mourinho insists that Eden is not a player Chelsea are interested in selling. However Jose seems happy to allow Kevin De Bruyne to leave, with two clubs interested. The favourite destination seems to be Wolfsburg. This is probably the only Chelsea move that will happen in this transfer window.

On loan goalkeeper Thibaut Coutois has spoken about his future. The dilemma being that he doesn’t want to sit on the Chelsea bench, but at the same time he admits that he isn’t a better ‘keeper that Petr Cech. Interestingly he says “I can say what I think, but in the end the boss makes the decision.” Is he saying that he doesn’t want to come to London?

Xabi Alonso is staying at Real Madrid for another 2 years. Some media are saying that Fredy Guarin remains Chelsea’s first choice. Likewise, Balotelli is staying at Milan. The 23-year-old striker said “I remain at Milan. I must arrive at the World Cup feeling especially calm.” Balotelli calm?

Brendan Rodgers is still trying to turn Liverpool into Chelsea’s reserves by pursuing Ryan Bertrand. Chelsea are unwilling to sell. However would Chelsea be prepared to set up a swap deal with Southampton which would see Luke Shaw heading to the Fulham Road?
