Good morning fellow Blues, as always I will bring you the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding our club, a mixture of what I know, press rumours and general talk.

First off, I am sure most of you logging on to your computers this morning would have already seen the report from L’Equipe, suggesting that Everton’s Marouane Fellaini will be joining Chelsea by the end of this week, for a fee of around £22 million. Yesterday we reported that Fellaini had a release clause of exactly that amount and Chelsea wanted to activate it.

Although the media source are normally very reliable, I struggle to fully believe this will happen during January. After all, if you look in to the full details of the apparent clause, it suggests otherwise. To begin with the clause does not come into affect until the summer, and only then can it be triggered by a Champions League club, meaning The Blues would have to secure a CL spot in order to activate the clause.

Interestingly though, private clauses do not usually publicly surface unless the player himself is wanting to leave, suggesting that Fellaini could in fact want to be pushing the deal through this month. Whether Everton have decided to cave in, cash in and allow him to leave now, remains to be seen, but this is what L=Equipe are suggesting. I re-iterate, this source are usually pretty good when it comes to transfers, we shall see.

Meanwhile, playmaking midfielder Benat from Real Betis has gathered some real pace yesterday and is seeming more likely by the minute. He is a deeper lying playmaker who has the natural Spanish technical ability. Reports claimed that we had an £8 million offer rejected, but would be prepared to meet Betis asking price of £16 million for the 25-year-old, again this one is worth keeping a close eye on, it looks to have solid sources behind it.

Brazilian attacker Taison however, is a little bit more confusing. Earlier in the week it seemed like a done deal, then it emerged that we were not offering as much as his club wanted and they gave us a Wednesday deadline to cough it up, which is today. So we will not know to the full extent whether this deal will be happening until the day is out, but it is clear Taison has talked with Abramovich and had agreed terms with us. Will be interesting to see if he’ll bring the money to the table, or concentrate on Fellaini and Benat, either or both.
